MENTORx with PETA India
Together have joined together to organise Compassionate Citizen workshopsfor students ages8 to 12 to help them develop respect for animals.

PETA India has over 2 million members and supporters. It operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. Itinforms policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect.

Compassionate Citizen is PETA India’s award-winning humaneeducation programme designed to teachyoung students to be kind toanimals. It consists of a 23-minute video featuring fascinating footage of animals, a teacher’s guide, reproducible activity sheets – including a colouring sheet and a kindness pledge that children can sign – a full-colour wall poster, and an insert describing easy ways teachers and schools can encourage students to help animals.

Endorsed by the Animal Welfare Board of India and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the programme has been voluntarily used by more than 1.71 lakh schools – including government, private, international, CBSE-affiliated, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan– and has reached nearly 60.3 million children across India.

PETA India focuses primarily on the areas in which the greatest numbers of animals suffer the most: in laboratories, the food industry, the leather trade, and the entertainment business. The group’s investigations, informationfor the public, research, animal rescues, legislative work, special events, celebrity involvement, and national media coverage have resulted in many improvements to the quality of life for animals and have saved countless animals’ lives.
